Green Arrow, aka Oliver Queen, is coming to Fortnite.

The latest DC comics skin is based off of the CW version of the billionaire vigilante, played by Stephen Amell..

The former Arrow star even joked about it on Twitter, referencing the hero’s flaxen goatee, notoriously absent from the TV adaptation:

If you haven’t watched Arrow, here’s a look at Amell’s Oliver Queen:

Fortnite’s version is a good likeness—a spitting image, if you will—which is fine by me. I used to really enjoy Arrow before it all went to hell. Before the showrunners let fans ship Oliver and Felicity and drown the show in sappy melodrama, endless lies and deception, and a need to make every single character a superhero.

Boy, that sure sounds like how they also ruined The Flash doesn’t it? I’ve started watching both these shows’ first seasons with my kids because A) my son is super into the Flash and B) both shows had stellar first seasons (and Arrow had a great second season also). But I don’t think I can watch past either show’s second seasons again or I’ll go crazy. I gave up on both shows long before they were cancelled. I reviewed both shows for as long as I could before a combination of ridiculously stupid writing, Olicity and toxic fans made it too overwhelming.MORE FOR YOUThe Good And Bad Of ‘Destiny 2: Beyond Light’ After Day One‘Destiny 2: Beyond Light’ Confirms That Weapon Sunsetting Did Go Too FarSave Up To $300 On Intel-Based MacBook Air Laptops Today OnlyMORE FROM FORBESArrow Is Dead, And Olicity Killed ItBy Erik Kain

In any case, I’m still happy to see Green Arrow come to Fortnite where he can go back to being a stone cold badass instead of constantly embroiled in silly drama and bad romance. For all the show’s flaws, I still have a fondness for it and for Stephen Amell who did a phenomenal job as Oliver Queen and just seems like a genuinely nice person all around. (I have much the same feelings for The Flash and Grant Gustin and many other members of both casts).

The Catch

There’s a catch, of course.

The Green Arrow skin won’t be making its way to the Item Shop (like Batman) or even to a real money bundle (like the Joker skin). It’s January’s Crew skin, which is part of Epic’s new Fortnite subscription service. Subscribers get one skin every month along with 1,000 V-Bucks and access to the current Battle Pass. It’s not a bad deal at all, especially when you factor in the skin. Just the skin and the V-Bucks alone would cost more than the $11.99 fee.

But it does mean this skin will only be available to subscribers. If you want it bad enough, you can always subscribe for one month and then cancel. I’ve subscribed. In fact, outside of platform subscriptions this is my only game subscription. I guess I’m just a Fortnite fanboy after all.
